During a visit to the NASA space centre in 1962, President John F. Kennedy noticed a janitor sweeping the floor. He interrupted his tour, walked over to the man and said, “Hi, I’m Jack Kennedy. What are you doing?”
“Well, Mr. President, I am helping put man on the moon” the janitor responded
– A life lesson from a Janitor –
In 1988, when AMC commercial cleaning was founded we wanted to offer something very different. We wanted to enable the visions of the commercial world by delivering a need-based facilities management service. To do this we had to understand their mission, values, culture and their higher purpose. We had to have the skills, expertise, passion for innovation of systems and processes to deliver a service that would consistently provide a clean, tidy, health-safe and efficient work environment. Above all this, we had to have the humility, sensitivity, and willingness to provide a nurturing and motivating environment to inspire our customers and enable their people to realise their dreams. Hence, we set our higher purpose right in the heart of our organisation. We called it, Caring. And we made it the mission and fight.
In essence, we believe it is important to take care of people. We place value on the humanness of the service. A service that is delivered with care and respect. We recognise a clean, hygienic work environment shows the heart of the giver and the value of the user.
Today, I am humbled by the opportunity for AMC Commercial Cleaning to offer a resident-centric facilities programme for the fast growing aged care sector. A sector for whom Caring can never be under valued or over promised. From AMC’s point of view cleaning is unconditional caring of the aged.
